Another Minehead Landmark, this time the Minehead metal sculpture that signifies the beginning of the South West Coast Path. I had the good fortune of conversing with the artist who designed this sculpture, Sarah Ward, who complimented me on the "fantastic" embroidery. The tricky part of this embroidery was the metal wires of the map. It is difficult to prevent the cotton calico from puckering when making several lines of stitching so close together. However with a bit of care I was able to prevent that from occuring. I also love the hands of this one, the different shades worked perfectly to create a 3D effect. I filmed this one and placed it up on youtube, you can find it though this link.
