To End All Wars

When making this embroidery I started out with a rather simplistic original photo. The photo was a black and white portrait of an artillery soldier much like Duality of Mind. With this one I decided to use the subject matter, being an artillery man, and use that to inspire an explosive background. I decided that when it came to the barbed wire it would be better to sew it rather than paint it as I wanted to convey the harsh painful nature of this barrier that was used to slow the process of the opposing army. The explosions, I found, worked as a good juxtaposition to the innocent eyes of the soldier.
